Ryan Chan is a member of DLA Piper’s Intellectual Property and Technology practice group in Hong Kong. His practice focuses on digital assets related regulatory and licensing projects, tokenization of real world assets, crypto fund formation and other digital asset transactions. On the tokenization front, his representative experience includes advising on Asia’s first open ended tokenized fund, Asia's first closed ended tokenized fund and the first tokenization of prime real estate in Central London. For digital asset licensing and fund formation, he has advised multiple asset managers in securing the requisite approval from the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong (SFC) to manage virtual asset portfolios in Hong Kong, and subsequently advised the launch of over a dozen crypto funds for these licensed managers, including the first crypto quant fund and the first crypto fund that permits subscriptions and redemptions in the form of virtual assets. He also represented the first SFC licensed corporation in Hong Kong to be permitted to provide virtual asset dealing and advisory services to both professional and retail investors in Hong Kong.
